Handwriting Fonts for New Zealand Curriculum

I wrote this in Word and screen captured it to retain the handwriting font, although I struggled to get it to a readable size (something about importing pictures into Blogger). Still aside from the odd spelling error I think it turned out fairly well. I would appreciate any feedback.

  1. I use Jarman for handwriting on the IWB with my year 4 class and then model the formation of individual letters/links with the IWB pen.

  2. A couple of years back John and I worked on getting this NZ font thing sorted

I sent him a copy of the NZ handwriting syllabus and this is what he came up with. Works really well- great to make handwriting work cards with as it's a great role model for those of us more familiar with a keyboard than a pen these days.

  3. Kia ora Shaun!

I've found this interesting - I wasn't aware that handwriting was such a big thing in NZ primary, nor that there were handwriting standards. I now understand why you were interested in my handwritten post. You managed well to get the images so clear in your post.

Thanks for the links to Education In The News - I've RSSd your Ed site too.

  4. I'm with Allanah. It is very simple to buy the NZ handwriting fonts and install them on your computers - especially as I see you use Macs and you can just clone them on your image or use Apple Remote to share them out.
